ZeroProof, New Mexico’s underage drinking awareness campaign, is getting national attention. RK Venture’s campaign combats the serious problem of underage drinking which can cause a host of problems including traffic fatalities and crashes.

Designated as outstanding is “ENDWI: The Reality,” also known as “Over the Limit”, an anti-drunk driving broadcast campaign created for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (DOT).

The reality is that drunk driving can affect anyone at any time. Mark Nichols, Jr. is arrested after having a few drinks at dinner. The Reality Series follows him as he goes through the process of getting arrested, being processed, and then finally released. A sobriety test, holding cell, phone call to mom, body scanner, finger printing, shower, orange jumpsuit, uncertainty, regret, shame, arraignment, legal costs… all hang heavy on Mark in these spots. Complementary tactics drive home the lingering consequences of getting a DWI.

Via a series of 9 thirty-second spots, “ENDWI: The Reality” utilizes a reality TV series approach to detail the humiliation and hardships that result from a drunk driving arrest. The campaign is one of just 119 projects acknowledged as excellent by a jury of industry professionals out of more than 2,831 entries submitted to this year’s competition.

“ENDWI: The Reality” is featured in both the print and digital editions of Advertising Annual 59, the November/December issue of Communication Arts magazine. See "ENDWI: The Reality" in the digital edition of Communication Arts.
