Summerfest Is Here…Time to Explore the Real Original

With August here already, it may feel like summer is waning. But Albuquerque Summerfest, a series of events featuring local music, food and fun, is just beginning. Food trucks and entertainment arrived at North Domingo Baca Park last weekend, and this weekend’s Summerfest festivities moves to Route 66 in Nob Hill with live music, a car show, food trucks, local shopping and dining.

Nob Hill is the hipster section of the Central corridor, and one of the neighborhoods highlighted in RK Venture’s new campaign for the City of Albuquerque to bring awareness to all that is unique along Route 66. The campaign targets locals and visitors alike, in an effort to bring business back to the area.

Famous around the world, known in songs, doused in neon, and full of attractions, Route 66 is legendary. Each neighborhood boasts its own character with different attractions and experiences for those who seek an adventure beyond the norm. Travelers and locals will find what makes this stretch of Albuquerque unique. From food trucks to fine dining, thrift stores to fine art galleries, museums, the zoo, botanical gardens, local breweries, dive bars to concert halls, there’s an experience for everyone on the Mother Road. Our video brings Route 66 to life.

RK Venture’s own Nichole Garcia was stylin’ it at the video shoot. An original Burqueña, Nichole is no stranger to the local lowrider scene.

The Explore ABQ 66 campaign includes a website, exploreABQ66.com, with a history of the area, fun facts, and lots of information about all there is to do and see in each neighborhood abutting Central.

Digital ads and a social media campaign will attract people to come back to Route 66. Once there, they’ll see light pole banners along Central distinguishing each neighborhood and celebrating Route 66.

RK Venture’s offices are a block off Central, so we know all the cool things to do in the area. Or do we? Creating this campaign has opened our eyes to so much more. In our immediate neighborhood of Nob Hill, adjacent neighborhoods all the way through Central, there is so much more for us to rediscover about our own City. Being able to work on a local campaign that’s going to bring business back to where we call home is an honor. We are excited to share in our love of Route 66 and will continue to explore the real original ourselves.
